NRP’s Food First platform is a referral tool that helps social-service organizations connect food-insecure individuals with on-island food programs. With 14 referral partners including the Food Pantry, Fairwinds, Health Imperatives, the Nantucket Public Schools, and others, the program efficiently directs individuals to any of the eight food program partners on Nantucket that best suit their needs. Serving as a central access point, Food First reduces the burden on individuals by providing them with resources they may not have known existed or thought were accessible. Since its launch in March 2022, Food First has facilitated over 968 referrals, making a significant impact on the island community.
